Jwu-Sheng Hu received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of California at Berkeley in 1990. From 1991-1993, he was an assistant professor at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI where he received the Research Initiation Award from National Science Foundation. Since 1993, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan and became a full professor in 1998. He served as the vice-chairman of the Department since 2006. From 2008; he works in-part at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan as an advisor and the principle investigator of the nationwide research program of intelligent robotics and automation. He also serves as a research faculty at the National Chip Implementation Center (CIC) of Taiwan for embedded system design applications from 2006 to 2009. He was the chairman of the Taipei Chapter, IEEE RA Society form 2011-2013. From 2013, he served as the Chief Technology Officer of the Mechanical and Mechatronics Systems Research Lab. (MMSL), ITRI as well as the Director of the Intelligent Robotics Division. In 2015, he was promoted to be the General Director of MMSL and Vice President of ITRI.

Dr. Hu’s research interests include robotics, mechatronics, and embedded systems where he published over 250 technical articles and 70 patents. He established both DSP and Embedded System programming lab in NCTU in 1990’s and his students won many technology competition awards. Since he joined ITRI, he led the robotics group to establish the nation’s largest Robotics research lab with many collaboration and technology transfer to the local industry. Currently, he is leading the MMSL to create technologies in the broad area of manufacturing and vehicles, including the standardization of various emerging industrial technologies. Dr. Hu has been an active member of IEEE and ASME. He is the chairman of Taiwan Society for Precision Engineering as well as the council member of Chinese Automatic Control Society, Chinese Institute of Automation Engineers, and Taiwan Society of Robotics.

Huei Peng received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992.  He is now a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan.  His research focuses include hybrid electric vehicles, and connected/automated vehicles. 

He currently serves as the Director of the University of Michigan Mcity, a research center that studies connected and autonomous vehicle technologies and promotes their deployment.  He has served as the PI or co-PI of more than 60 research projects, with a total funding of more than 50 million dollars.  He has more than 250 technical publications, including 110 in referred journals and transactions and four books. 

Huei Peng is both an SAE Fellow and an ASME Fellow.

Dr. Jin-Ming Chen received his PhD degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from National Tsing Hua University. He is the division director of energy storage material and technology research group now. He has more than 26 years’ experience for lithium battery process and electrode material development. He is the author and coauthor of more than 235 publications for scientific journals or conference papers. He has also granted more than 75 patents. He has promoted more than 30 technology transfer or industry cooperative projects, the technology transfer income is higher than 450M NT dollars.





CHING-CHIU LIAO , graduated from Department of Power Mechanical Engineering of National Tsing Hua University, currently serves as Automotive Research & Testing Center(ARTC) Vice President. He has contributed in the vehicle domain more than 30 years. He has served as the inter-organization program leader of Technology Development Program of Ministry of Economic Affaires. He has led ARTC team to establish R&D strength in intelligent vehicle, and also develop and improve key technology in intelligent and electronic vehicle.

Dr. Cheng is the Deputy General Director of Information and Communications Research Laboratories (ICL) at ITRI. He has over 35 years experience in communications industry especially focusing on Autonomous Driving Vehicle Applications, Drone and Fleet Technology, 4G/5G Communications Technologies, Multi-dimension Video and Communications Network Integration Technologies, Broadband Convergence System and Integration Technologies. He has leaded the teams and being awarded by MOEA several times.

Prof. Simon See is currently the Sr. Director, Solution Architecture and Engineering at NVIDIA. He is also a Professor and Chief Scientific Computing Officer in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prof. See is also the Chief Scientific Computing Advisor for BGI (China) and has a position in Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and King-Mong Kung University of Technology (Thailand). Prof See is currently involved in a number of smart city projects, especially in Singapore and China.

He has published over 200 papers in these areas and has won various awards. Prof. See is also a member of SIAM, IEEE, and IET. He is also a committee member of more than 50 conferences. Prof. See graduated from University of Salford (UK) with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and numerical analysis in 1993. Prior to joining NVIDIA, Prof. See worked for SGI, DSO National Lab. of Singapore, IBM, International Simulation Ltd (UK), Sun Microsystems, and Oracle. He is also providing consultancy to a number of national research and supercomputing centers .

Tom Witsenboer, M.Sc. (male) is Project Engineer at TASS International. Received a double degree in Technology management – Discrete (2005) and Mechanical Engineering – Automotive Human Factors (2016). Started working for TASS International early 2016. Nowadays experienced with sensor simulation (PreScan – a TASS International software tool), PreScan on-site training and support, vehicle sensor integration, vehicle tests, and certified as ‘automated vehicle test driver’. Mr. Patrick P. Lin currently serves as the head of autonomous vehicle business for Ford Motors in Asia Pacific. In this role, Mr. Lin guides the long-term strategy of the company as Ford transitions from a traditional automotive company into a technology and mobility services provider. With Ford, Mr Lin previously managed teams in corporate strategy, electrification, smart cities, and other mobility-related projects.

Previously, Mr. Lin served as Group Vice President at Lion Travel, JWI Marketing and Xinmedia under the Lion Group conglomerate where he also served as Strategy Advisor to the Chairman.

Prior to joining WHETRON, he worked as an assistant manager at Automotive Research and Testing Center in the areas of developing advanced driving assistance systems for four years.
